Executive Board

President
Marco Andrea Riva
Full Professor of Pharmacology
University of Parma
Marco A. Riva is the co-founder and co-president of the Italian Stress Network. His research is primarily focused on the investigation of how exposure to early in life adversities may shape the vulnerability to mental disorders and on the identification and characterization of mechanisms that may be target for pharmacological intervention aimed at reducing or preventing stress-induced dysfunction.

Co-President
Patrizia Campolongo
Full Professor of Pharmacology
Sapienza University of Rome
Patrizia Campolongo is the co-founder and co-president of the Italian Stress Network. Her research focuses on the effects of stress on memory function, investigating the role of different neural circuits that mediate behavior in response to stress.

Treasurer
Annamaria Cattaneo
Associate Professor of Pharmacology
University of Milano
Annamaria Cattaneo is the Treasurer of the Italian Network of Stress. Her primary interest is to investigate the biological mechanisms associated with early-life stress exposure that contribute to increased vulnerability to mental disorders, and to identify peripheral biomarkers that can predict vulnerability, differential diagnosis and treatment response.
Board Members

Member
Alessandro Bartolomucci
Associate professor of biology
University of Parma
Alessandro Bartolomucci is member of the ISN board. He is also Professor of Physiology at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on metabolic physiology, stress physiology and social determinants of health and aging.

Member
Miriam Melis
Full Professor of Pharmacology
University of Cagliari
Miriam Melis is member of the iSN board. Her research focuses on understanding neurobiological mechanisms of resilience and susceptibility to stress-related psychopathology at the interface of dopamine and endocannabinoid systems.

Member
Gian Marco Leggio
Associate Professor of Pharmacology
University of Catania
Gian Marco Leggio is member of the ISN board. His research focuses on the neurobiology of stress, cognitive impairment, and vulnerability/resilience to PTSD, with particular emphasis on sex differences in brain function and behavior.

Member
Simona Scheggi
Associate Professor of Pharmacology
University of Siena
Simona Scheggi is member of the ISN board. Her research explores the neurochemical mechanisms underlying anhedonia and the molecular processes triggered by acute stress. She studies how these pathways influence reward-related behaviors and contribute to individual and sex-dependent differences in stress vulnerability and resilience.
